Spay/Neuter Clinics
TAILS conducts reduced rate spay/neuter clinics for families or individuals who qualify by income. These clinics are offered approximately every two months. We announce the clinics on our web site, in the Capital Democrat and on the radio. Please check these sites often to find when our next clinic is scheduled.
Spay/Neuter Facts
Pet overpopulation is a large problem in Southeastern Oklahoma. Over 60% of the pets that are born will become unwanted and will wind up abandoned or in pounds, shelters or research labs.
Pets that are spayed or neutered:
- Display less spraying and marking behavior
- Remain healthier and therefore are less expensive over time
- Are less likely to roam
- Display less aggression
- Eliminate messy heat cycles
- Ensures that no unwanted animals are born
Spay/Neuter Myths
It is NOT TRUE that a pet must have at least one litter to develop normally. This is entirely false!
Spaying or neutering your pet does NOT:
- Change the sex of your pet
- Make your pet fat
- Cause your pet to be weak or lazy
- Change your pet’s personality
If you are low-income and want to get your pets spayed or neutered, TAILS is here to help.
